About the School
Our Vision
At Bell Gardens Elementary, we are committed to developing safe, respectful, and responsible Global Citizens. We believe in a growth mindset for our entire school community, where everyone can grow and succeed. We embrace the values of multilingualism, multiculturalism, science, and social justice for our students and community. Our dedication to providing a 21st-century curriculum ensures our students will engage the future as persevering problem-solvers.
A Tradition of Excellence
In 2016, Bell Gardens Elementary was honored with the prestigious California Gold Ribbon Award, recognizing our innovative and impactful science program. This award celebrated our commitment to providing students with regular, hands-on experiments, fostering curiosity through our annual science fair, and equipping our teachers with extensive resources to keep students deeply engaged. The practices recognized by this award continue to be a cornerstone of our curriculum, and we've seen firsthand how this dynamic approach significantly boosts language acquisition and fluency among our English learners. As Principal Christian Sandoval emphasized at the time, "We felt it was critically important to keep the fire lit for science education at Bell Gardens Elementary." That fire continues to burn brightly, reflecting our ongoing dedication to inspiring a love for science and critical thinking in every student.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Gold Status
Bell Gardens Elementary has achieved Gold Status in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)! This significant recognition highlights our school-wide commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
Our PBIS framework is built on clearly defined behavioral expectations that are taught, reinforced, and recognized consistently across all areas of the school. By proactively teaching and modeling expected behaviors, we create a safe, respectful, and responsible atmosphere for everyone. This systematic approach leads to fewer disruptions, increased instructional time, and a more positive school culture, ensuring our students feel secure and supported as they learn and grow.

Cultivating Leadership Habits
Bell Gardens Elementary is a school inspired by The Leader in Me process developed by Franklin Covey. Together, our staff, parents, and community partners work as one to nurture both the hearts and minds of every student.
At our school, students are empowered to discover their unique strengths, set meaningful goals, and take ownership of their learning journey. Through opportunities to lead, collaborate, and positively contribute to the school community, students develop confidence, responsibility, and strong character. By fostering a culture of leadership, self-direction, and teamwork, we help every child build the academic, social, and emotional skills needed for lifelong success. Our goal is to inspire students to reach their full potential and become leaders who make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world around them.
